Cubesats use a standardized form factor to allow a common Poly Picosatellite Orbital Deployer (PPOD) to be used on the launch vehicle for transport to orbit. A cubesat is often measured by the number of 10x10x10cm. Units, or U's, that comprise the satellite. The role of the chassis is to encapsulate all of the necessary subsystems needed by the cubesat to perform its mission. The primary challenge of developing a cubesat is component miniaturization and packaging into a form factor that meets size constraints and can survive the harsh conditions of outer space. Within the chassis is the SatBus, which consists of the full stackup of all necessary subsystems and the corresponding interconnections between them.
